Beef Round Steak Recipe

Put down the steak knives, folks, this round steak recipe is not only a delicious steak, especially with a good seasoning, but cooked until tender. This is an easy recipe to make, just season, fry and simmer for a few hours. And the best part is, the kids can eat it. The steak is cut with a fork. Steak knives are not necessary!
Great side dishes to accompany this round steak recipe include boiled potatoes and beans. Step 1. Sear the steaks

Turn the burner to medium-high heat. Add 1 tablespoon 100% pure canola oil, olive oil, or your favorite vegetable oil to the pan with 4 medium round beef steaks.

Note:

These round steaks came straight from the freezer because I decided at the last minute that I wanted to make this recipe for dinner. If your steaks are already thawed, the searing time may take a little less than the 20 minutes listed below.

Step 2. Turn the steaks

While the eye of the round steak is cooking, sprinkle

1/2 teaspoon Johnny’s Seasoning Salt with

1/4 teaspoon table salt and

1/4 teaspoon ground cumin.

teaspoon ground black pepper over the steaks. Continue to sear the steaks over medium-high heat for about 20 minutes, give or take a few minutes, until golden brown. You may need to lower the heat to medium. At this point, you can also add any of your favorite spices.

Step 3. Continue to brown the eye of the round steak

Every few minutes, continuing to turn the steaks in the pan as they brown.

Step 4. Prick the steaks

While the steaks are browning, prick them in several places with a fork so that the heat cooks the inside of the steaks.
Flake the steaks with a fork.

Step 5. Bake for twenty minutes

Typically, steaks will cook for about 20 minutes, but this may depend on the type of stove you are using. Whether you have a gas, electric, or induction stovetop, keep in mind the difference in heat each can produce.
You can serve the steaks now if you like them medium-rare. But if you want a tender steak that doesn’t require a steak knife to eat, follow the remaining cooking instructions below.

Note:

The CDC (Centers for Disease Control) recommends cooking meat to the proper temperature. Whole cuts of beef should reach an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit. Then let it rest for 3 minutes at room temperature before cutting or eating. This temperature is high enough to kill germs that can make you sick. The easiest way to check the internal temperature for doneness is to use an instant-read thermometer. Insert the thermometer into the center of the meat.

Step 6. Add water and bring to a boil

Once the steaks are browned, fill the pan with water to cover. Reduce heat and cook for about 3 1/2 to 4 hours. As the water level in the pan drops, continue adding water.

Step 7. Let the water evaporate

About 30 minutes before dinner, let the water evaporate from the pan. Do not add any more water to the pan. Place the round steaks on a paper towel to absorb any oil you don’t want to eat, then serve. Recipe Variations

There are several types of steaks that can be used for this recipe instead of the eye of the round steak. For example, a round steak, a T-bone, a top sirloin, or any other lean cut of meat.
Add any of your favorite spices in addition to those used in this recipe, such as onion powder, kosher salt, garlic salt, or garlic powder.
Add raw onions or chopped green onions to the pan about five minutes before the steak is done.

FAQ

What should I do with it? Leftover steak?

Place the leftover steak in an airtight container or zip-lock bag in the refrigerator. We don’t usually have leftover steak, but if we do, I use a small ziplock bag. If we have leftovers, we always try to eat them within three days.

Can I freeze leftover steak?

You can cook the eye of a round steak however you like, but the longer the steak cooks, the more tender it will be.
When there is a little water in the pan, you can throw raw onions around the steak. Fry the onions for a few minutes until they are soft and hot.
